Road bike FranceON THE ROAD AGAIN Our 2020 long distance cycling challenge: 200 km across the northern French Prealps (road or gravel)

On the road again is a long distance cycling challenge by France Bike Trips taking place for the first time in 2020. It takes the riders through one of the most beautiful parts of the French Prealps. From Chambéry on the shores of the great Lac du Bourget, the route heads south, crossing the mountain ranges of Chartreuse and Vercors and the 45th parallel, and finally reaches the sun-soaked Drôme Provençale. The finish line awaits the riders in the relaxed little town of Die in the valley of the Drôme.

You can either choose to ride the classic road bike route with a distance of approx. 200 km, or a gravel route option for gravel enthusiasts with an approximate distance of 170 km. Besides the classic climbs along the way (Col du Granier, Col de Porte), the route takes in many other splendid sections on asphalt and gravel. If you have not tried a long distance cycling event yet this might be the perfect opportunity, and all of it in a relaxed atmosphere. We do without official timekeeping. That's how we see things.

  • The gravel route is about 170 km long. For gravel riders, the transfer to the starting point is included in the participation fee.
  • The idea behind this challenge? Connect the France Bike Trips headquarters in the heart of Savoy with the adopted home of our founder Pascal in one day. And why not take in the spectacular mountain roads of Chartreuse and Vercors? Good point.
