About our trips

A passion for travelling by gravel and long-distance cycling adventure

Our gravel routes will delight fans of small, remote roads and rolling tracks, explorers of wild regions and lovers of sporting challenges...

The type of terrain encountered is a clever mix of roads and tracks, each with their own specific characteristics. On the road side, we select small, forgotten roads that are narrow and have very little traffic. The surface is uneven, sometimes gravelly (yes!), sometimes with potholes, sometimes smooth. On the track side, we test and select rolling tracks to ensure maximum enjoyment. We therefore avoid ‘mountain bike’ type tracks with large stones, ruts, steps, etc. From time to time, we may include a narrow path (single track) if it is smooth and not too steep. Roads account for 2/3 to ¾ of the route, tracks ¼ to 1/3 of the route. Of course, this proportion may be different in certain specific regions. For example, in Tuscany, where ‘strade bianche’ trails make up more than half of the route. We choose bucolic regions with beautiful landscapes, authentic villages and a strong identity. Itinerancy reigns supreme, in the form of crossings or loops, allowing you to enjoy all the variety of a region and the magic of cycling, which allows you to cover considerable distances in just a few days.

Our routes are designed for athletes, with options ranging from ‘not very athletic’ (level 1) to ‘very athletic’ (level 3). Pushing yourself beyond your limits and enjoying a challenge are inherent to gravel biking.

Passionate about touring and escaping into the great outdoors, the Vélorizons team has put together tailor-made gravel routes that we hope will provide you with thrilling and unforgettable experiences!

Designing perfect trips

All our tours are tailor-made and approved by us. We pay particular attention to the selection of tracks and roads used to ensure that the terrain is well suited to gravel cycling. We particularly like routes that allow you to tour or cross an entire region, passing through the most beautiful sites and often ‘hunting’ for pretty little-known passes. In short, we create our itineraries with a single goal in mind: to offer you the ideal route!

We provide you with GPS tracks and a detailed ‘road book’ of the day-to-day itinerary. Please note that each day, you often have a choice of two or three routes of varying difficulty to get from one accommodation to the next (in accordance with the detailed tour programme). If you are travelling with others, you can each cycle on a different route and still meet up at the same accommodation each evening.

Ride light

On all our gravel tours in France or abroad, we provide luggage transport from one accommodation to the next by vehicle. This means you can travel light, carrying only your ‘daily essentials’. Each evening when you arrive, you will find your bag containing all your equipment.

For those who prefer to carry their belongings in ‘bike-packing’ mode, we offer a ‘low-carbon’ option with a discount.

Bikepacking option

On all our self-guided gravel tours in France or abroad, transport your luggage by bikepacking. This option allows you to travel without having to use transport companies to deliver your luggage each day. You benefit from a discount as we do not transfer your luggage, and you reduce the carbon footprint of your trip. To find out the amount of the discount, please refer to the ‘dates and prices’ section of each tour.

Types of travel

Gravel bike trips with support vehicle

Most of our gravel touring trips are offered with a support vehicle, which means that the driver of this vehicle transports your luggage from one accommodation to another AND is available to help you in case of physical or mechanical problems.

They will prepare a full picnic suitable for the effort, with fresh, high-quality products, and offer it to you on the route in the form of a buffet.

These departures are offered on fixed dates and are confirmed with a minimum number of participants ranging from 4 to 6 depending on the destination. Only pre-formed groups can depart on an assisted version on the date of their choice (with a special group quote).

Self-guided trips

Some of our itinerant trips and all of our star-shaped tours are available in a self-guided version. These departures are offered on flexible dates and are confirmed for a minimum of two people.

Your luggage is transported from one accommodation to the next by a vehicle, BUT you do not have access to an assistance vehicle with a driver during the day (except in Morocco).

Transparency and quality

We are very attentive to the quality of the services provided by our tour leaders and guides, accommodation, meals and transfers, as well as to the "intrinsic" quality of the tour: itinerary, points of interest and difficulty.

In the description of each of our tours, we give you the details of what is included and not included in our prices. No unpleasant surprises or advertising effects with a price that hides unforeseen expenses or a less rosy reality. Unlike many of our colleagues, we have chosen not to apply registration fees (which can artificially lower the price of a tour).
