France Bike Trips Travel Formulas

"Discover the French Bike Touch with local specialists"

Even if you're not a regular cyclist, you can enjoy the magic of this wonderful means of locomotion to travel at your own pace, along quiet country lanes and cycle tracks that take you through beautiful landscapes and historical villages. For this, the choice of the region and the itinerary are essential, and that's where we come in!

As enthusiasts, we take great care designing tours for leisure cyclists and occasional cyclists alike, ensuring you get the most from your cycling holidays: stunning and varied landscapes, gentle hills, breaks to make the most of culture, heritage, local markets and other curiosities, comfortable and ideally located accommodation, daily mileage to suit your level and requirements... We favour itinerant tours, enabling the true discovery of a new region. A great choice for all the family.

TRAVEL FORMULAS

Guided tours

Our team of English-speaking qualified guides are ready to share their passion, expertise and local knowledge, as well as their cycling and travel experience to ensure you have a great holiday full of superb riding and unforgettable experiences.

Guided tours offer numerous advantages: fluidity of the riding (no need to stop to read the map!), mechanical support, knowledge of local culture and history.

Self-guided tours

This travel formula is designed for autonomous individuals and groups with a minimum experience of map reading.
You can travel on the dates of your choice. From two persons minimum.

We organise your luggage transfers, book your accommodation (half board) and provide you with a "road book" including a detailed description of the itinerary, GPS files and maps with highlighted routes and practical information (places to visit, shops, restaurants, swimming spots...).

Private groups

You are a group of friends, a family, a company or a cycling club and would like to organise a private bike tour on the dates of your choice. This option is available for guided and self-guided tours.

Family tours

Motivated by the enthousiasm of our own children for cycle touring, we've put together a number of family specific tours that are guaranteed to keep your kids smiling throughout the trip...
Family specific tours mean:
* Shorter stages, leaving time for regular pauses
* Plenty of things to do along the way (swimming spots, animal and wildlife parks, cultural and heritage sites, villages...)
* Suitable routes on quiet lanes, cycle and forest tracks
* Rental of child specific cycling equipment

Our family tours are regularly tested and refined by members of the France Bike Trips team and their families...

E-bike tours

Electric bikes offer pedaling assistance, greatly reducing the effort needed to cover a given distance compared to a classic "human-powered" bicycle. They offer an alternative solution in two cases:
* You don't feel able to complete a level 1 wheel tour. With electric assistance, this trip becomes accessible.
* You would like to complete a tour with a person who is fitter than you and you are worried that you will be unable to keep up, or that the other person will find your pace too slow.
Electric bikes help resolve these issues, and make sure everyone has a great holiday...
It is possible to rent an E-bike for almost all of our backroad cycling tours. Take a look at the tour information for more details.

ABOUT OUR BACKROAD CYCLING TOURS

Luggage transfer

Most of the trips we offer are itinerant and we know how important it is to ride light. Each day your luggage will be transfered to the following night's accommodation, leaving you to make the most of the day's great riding.
During the day you only carry what you need for the ride (water, picnic, camera...).

Accommodation

We favour comfortable accommodation with warm hospitality. Our standard price is based on 2* and 3* hotels and comfortable guest houses with double rooms and en-suite facilities.

For private groups and self-guided trips it is possible to customise the accommodation (upgrade) depending on offer and availability.

Food

Our tours are also a great opportunity to discover the famous French gastronomy.
We pay very careful attention to the quality and the variety of your meals, using fresh and local produce wherever possible.
Please note that it is possible to organise custom tours with a strong gastronomical theme (wine and cheese tasting, etc.).
Typical meals:
* Continental breakfast taken at the accommodation
* For lunch, we offer 3 options based on your preferences:
- A picnic, to be carried in your day pack. It contains an individual salad (pasta salad, rice salad ), cold meats, cheese, bread and fruit.
- "Race food" for those who are "allergic" to backpacks: energy bars, dried fruit.
- No lunch organised by France Bike Trips, leaving you free to stop and eat when and where you choose (restaurants, bakeries, grocery stores...)
* Cereal bars and dried fruit for breaks
* In the evening, a hearty dinner (3 to 4 course meal) with local produce, at the overnight accommodation or in a nearby restaurant

Price and quality

Each tour description specifies what is included and not included in the price. No surprises, no hidden extras, and a trip description that reflects the reality on the ground.

We are very attentive to the quality of our guides, accommodation, meals, transfers and the "intrinsic" quality of our trips: itinerary, places of interest, technical and physical levels, etc.
